Final 6!

Okay for the Four of you who enjoyed last weeks post, I bring back the same theme, and that being (In Ryan Seacrest voice) American Idol.

Syesha Mercado - Wow Hot Mama! Great performance, she looked great, looked comfortable, and looked like a winner. This is not a song that I will have to go out and downloan anytime soon, however she can certainly move on with that performance.

Jason Castro - This performance may just keep Brooke White still in the competition. I would be interested to see if any person downloads this song from itunes. And I mean even one person.

Brooke White - One of the problems with real time blogging is you can read my premature opinions. Obviously now, Brooke White is NOT safe. Horrible blunder to begin the song, and nothing memorable about that performance whatsoever. Brooke always sings so "worried". She looks like a very sad clown while performing. When Paula can't think of something nice to say about you, I think tomorrow could spell doom.

David Archuleta - he should really shine tonight with this kind of music. What.... he's singing a girls song? Has the theatre infulence affected David so soon. Something quite brave as he is singing "Think of Me" to the rhythm of "More than Words". For those of you from the 1990's you know what I mean. Great job. At least we should have one Mormon left in the competition.

Carly Smithson - Having seen Jesus Christ Superstar one time the only memory of that show is that it is very "irreverent". Carly can/is doing well with this one. One of the few upbeat songs of the night and the voters should reward her like Hillary Clinton in PA.

David Cooke - Placement can be very important in the minds of the voters, and David gets to sing last for two weeks in a row. Lucky him. I wonder if he's going to wear a mask while singing Phantom... alas no mask. Probably not going to be the top vote getter this week, but with Castro and Brooke leading in the least votes category, David should be Safe.

So to sum up tonight, for me, the slow songs were less memorable, and the two upbeat songs were best. Finally the girls outshined the boys... Syesha and Carly should move on.

Bottom three will be Brooke, Jason, and I'm going out on a limb, David Cooke.

AMAZING IDOL!

As a huge Mariah Carey fan (mostly her old stuff) I was pumped to hear what the American Idols would be singing. This was a terrific week of phenomenal talent! It brought back visions of Jake dancing to "All I want for Christmas is you." Jake used to say dailey "Mariaaaaah hot as fiaaaare." Sorry Becky Jo before there was you, Jake LOVED Mariah.

On to the contestants:

David Archuleta - Okay as a local I have to cheer on the home boy, but his soft "Afterglow" approach to songs is growing a bit stale for me. He should still make it to the next round and not be bottom 3.

Carly - Way to pull it together. This performance may have bought her another week, but in the grand scheme of things she won't make top 3 in this AMERICAN Idol contest. Jill loved her sleeves covering her hideous tats. She may be clear from the bottom 3. We'll see.

Syesha - Tough song, but she continually impersonates all of the amazing black women singers. Mariah, Whitney, Celine, she tries the toughest songs ever written and props for that. Sayesha have a seat in the bottom 3.

Brooke - Very good song, Very good arrangement, Very good performance. To bad Very Good doesn't win at this level. I will buy Jill a Brooke White CD for Christmas next year, I'll buy it from Deseret Book, and then Jill will go to a fireside for the youth featuring Brooke White!

Kristy Lee - Good song, sure her country fans have kept her going, but at this level she should return to her regular seat in the bottom 3.

David Cook - (Sung in the note of Hootie and the Blowfish), but AMAZING. I would buy this song from iTunes! Cook could very well win this entire contest, and for those of us homers who think David Archuleta will win..... Well let's just say a David will probably win, but it may not be the David from the 801.

Jason Castro - Take a seat in the bottom 3. I know the ladies like your hair, but you can't win with just that. Islanders don't vote and that's the group that he's singing to. He should begin smoking marijuana and sing about love... Redemption...Buffalo Soldiers a la Bob Marley, if he wants to stay out of the bottom 3. Jason take your seat next to Kristy Lee.

So I realize that I have 4 in the bottom 3. Syesha, Kristy Lee, Brooke, and Jason. The bottom 3 is just a formality until the two David's duke it out in the final chapter of this season.

Regularity

So I am feeling like my blog is lacking in regular updates. Sure I'm not as faithful to updating as AD who has multiple blogs in a week, or Trish who not only is a blogging fool, is so articulate in her writing. Of course another favorite blogger is Kandis, but given it's tax season she has a bye and we all know that after April 15th she will be back to her regular blogging self with the witty updates she has become famous for. My last shout-out is going to be to cousin Malena. This is the blog that I check multiple times a week just hoping to see an update on her progress. I'm calling you out right now Malena you have a social responsibility to keep that blog updated, and I mean weekly! I speak for the dozen or so Pearson's who read/write blogs that yours is one we are all checking to see how things are going. With the added inspirational song/video of the week to complete your blog, it has became a family favorite that must be added to weekly.

Which brings me back to the skeletons in my closet. Sure I don't write weekly, but the ladies out there who read the family blogs seem to appreciate the "Opera like" connection that, as a man I struggle with. I would much rather be blogging about basketball playoffs, BYU spring football, or the fact that Logan came with me to the dump yesterday. Okay I think this is something the Pearson women out there would like to hear about.

After helping my father cut down the tallest pine tree in Salt Lake County, which happened to be in his front yard, then helping his next door neighbor cut down his pine tree that was planted at the same time. These trees were huge and as you can guess who gets to climb up the tree to begin cutting down branches? Yes you guessed it... Yours truly. Mom took pictures I'll try and get them posted later in the week. So I'm climbing in a pine tree risking life and limb (pun intended) using a chainsaw to thin the behemoth pine trees before we fall them. It was quite a site to see them come down and neighbors from all around came out of their houses to see the big event. It was quite a big deal in my parents neighborhood to cut down those trees but I'm getting away from my point.

The trees had to be cut up put on a trailer and taken to the dump. So I decided to take the boys with me as they have never been to the dump before. But before we left I had to ask the golden question all parents ask their newly potty trained children. "Logan before we go you need to go potty." (I guess it's more of a statement). He of course said he didn't need to go. However upon arriving at the dump you guessed it, "Daddy Ineedtogopotty!" Here is where it's good to be a boy, because although the dump does not provide restrooms, as a boy restrooms are really more of a courtesy.

As necessity is the mother of innovation Logan experienced two first that day. Not only did he pee outside for the first time, but he did it standing up! To a man this can only be a kin to mothers taking their daughters for the first time to get their hair or nails done. Sure I may be as proud of my son as I was that day sometime in the future, but it will probably be when he gets his Eagle Scout or graduates from college.

I'm slacking on Idol updates, so that will be my next blog. Needless to say it's better for our country that Michael Johns was sent packing. Next Carly should go then we can get down to business of choosing our AMERICAN Idol.
