The Brigham City temple open house is going on and if you are lucky enough to get tickets you can get a tour. We tried to get tickets and unless we were willing to go at 9:00 a.m. on a school day the tickets were all gone. We were resigned to the fact that we wouldn't be going to this open house until a neighbor told us that more tickets were made available. So after school Jill packed up the kids, picked me up from work, and we drove up north to Brigham City. On the way we stopped to eat at, none other than the kids favorite "restaurant".
We drove to a parking lot where we waited for a bus to pick us up and take us to the temple. The kids were so excited to ride on the bus. Alyssa particularly enjoyed the ride.
There was a bit of a wait to get in to see the video, and after the video we put white booties on our feet. Alyssa didn't like wearing booties so I got to carry her throughout the tour.
The boys liked the tour which was great because they didn't have the many memories of going through the Oquirrh Mountain temple (three years ago). While we walked through, Logan had the line of the night when he said, "Mom, now I know where my tithing dollars go." He was very sincere which was very cute.
There were lines at every turn. Come to find out they allow for about 18,000 people a day to go through the temple. I would guess that 16,000 of them all came between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It was well worth the trip.
This is the last week of home cooked meals for a couple weeks. As you can see from this picture the kitchen as we know it is mostly gone at this point. I've removed everything so we can put up sheet rock and paint before the cabinets go in on September 11th. Friday night we ate deli sandwiches and Saturday Jill picked up rotisserie chicken and salads from the grocery store. Here we are eating our roasted chicken.
The week before our stake had the annual stake fair. The kids love eating cotton candy.
They all did face painting and toured the vegetables that have been grown in gardens throughout the stake. The boys also enjoyed playing some games like this three legged race. Here is Logan and Hyrum.
For the first time this summer we have seen rain. It's been so dry this summer it's nice to open the windows and smell the rain. We also welcome the cooler temperatures. Alyssa was so excited, she loved feeling the rain.

It's very hard to have the kitchen torn up . Come on over anytime for a meal.
ReplyDeleteThat last picture of Alyssa is gorgeous! Everything about it! Thanks for sharing with us! The temple trip looked cool! I loved Logan's comment!
