October 30th we carved pumpkins. We don't always plan ahead so well, and it often feels like we carve pumpkins at the last minute. As we got ready, Landon played a new game he got from Grandma and Grandpa Bryant, called Pie Face. The children had such a fun time playing and getting their faces covered in whipping cream.
We had a great time carving pumpkins. Logan doesn't like to touch the "guts" so I helped him out.
Alyssa carved a traditional jack-o-lantern, but the boys made their pumpkins Broncos-themed. Logan and Landon are still Broncos fans and wanted to showcase their favorite players: Thomas and Miller.
The weather has been so good. Logan has been wanting to do a backflip ever since Alyssa learned how. In just a couple of jumps, I had him doing backflips too! He loved it.
For Halloween Alyssa wanted to be "Mal" from Descendants. Descendants is a Disney movie that Alyssa loves. It tells the story of the children of the heroes and the villains. Mal is Malificent's daughter and Alyssa's favorite character. She was really excited to wear her costume! She and Landon had a great day at school. They loved marching in the Halloween parade and enjoyed the parties in their classrooms, too. Jill was able to help with Alyssa's party. She took the rest of our jack-be-little pumpkins and the kids turned them into mummies with white duct tape and googly eyes.
Landon wanted to be the same sumo wrestler he was last year. Logan dressed up as a Broncos fan. He missed out on the school parade and class party this year, but was able to wear his costume to school.
This year for Halloween I stayed back and handed out candy. Landon went with his friend James Burton. Logan and Greg Burton went trick or treating to a couple of houses, but then had a party at Hyrum Barlow's house. They watched a movie (The Avengers) and ate junk food. This was a first for Logan, but he had a great time. Alyssa met up with her friends (Calli Chandler and Claire Sligting) and Jill and the other moms went out with them. I loved being home handing out candy. I'm usually the one out walking the neighborhood, so it was a nice reversal of our usual roles. Jill enjoyed being out with Alyssa and visiting with her friends, too.
November 1st was a Court of Honor. Logan was awarded some merit badges by his scout master Kevin Yeager and assistant Kim Nichols.
